* Contemporary mid-engine sports cars are an endangered species in today's marketplace, and most are unattainable for all but the well-to-do. If you are looking for the near-handling perfection and superior balance of a mid-engine coupe in an affordable package, the 2014 Porsche Cayman is the only game in town. Source: KBB.com
* Exceptional handling; slick-shifting transmissions; rewarding and efficient engines; beautifully crafted interior; extensive personalization options. Source: Edmunds
* The new 2014 Porsche Cayman shows off a self-assured look with sloping headlights, edgy lines, and side scallops. Its new body structure is aluminum intensive making it 66-pounds lighter, and 40-percent stiffer than before. Plus, stability at high speeds has been improved due to a wider track and 2.4-inch longer wheelbase. One look and you know this car will have no difficulty slicing through the wind as it blasts you down the road with your adrenaline flowing and a smile on your face. It is a mid-engine coupe with superior balance, remarkable handling, and an affordable price that simply must be experienced. The interior of the Cayman is incredibly modern, with sleek lines and a very high-end feel. However, it exudes an attitude that never lets you forget that you are behind the wheel of a sports car first and foremost. It possesses generous headroom and legroom so you don't feel confined. The seats are incredibly confortable, and the controls on the center console are easy to reach and use. For your things, you will find storage in the front under the hood, and in the rear hatch that give you 15 cubic feet of cargo space. It is sold in two models: the base Cayman and top-level the Cayman S. The Cayman comes with a 2.7-Liter, 6-Cylinder engine that has 275 horsepower and can be bought as a 6-speed manual or automatic. The Cayman S comes with a 3.4-Liter, 6-Cylinder engine than has 325 Horsepower and can also be bought as a manual or automatic. Both models are rear-wheel drive. Porsche has given the base Cayman a generous array of standard features including such items as a sound system with 4-speakers and a 7-inch touch screen, water-repellant front windows with rain sensing wipers, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and 18-inch wheels. In terms of safety, both Cayman models have 8 airbags, anti-lock brakes and brake assist, plus roadside assistance that is complimentary for the duration of the limited warranty. • I pass my exit all the time...

This car gives my heart more exercise than a gym. Seriously. I drive over curvy Highway 17 through the Santa Cruz mountains in California every day and its amazing. I look forward to my commute and Ill pass my exit on a regular basis because its so much fun to drive!. This car corners like a race car. With new 20 inch Michelins, Ive raced a Ferrari and Aston Martin on Hwy 17 and they couldnt pass me because of the corners. Few production cars can match the cornering. Mid-engine, 6 cyl. growl in your ear is like listening to a violin. I have the PDK which has a dual clutch so its quick shifting. And PDK always seems to anticipate my paddle shift and places the car in the correct gear before I can do so. Its amazing. The car is so smart. I also have the heated and A/C seats which work really well. Folding mirrors help with tight parking. Headlights are like eyes and they move with the steering wheel. This car has very little storage room inside but theres a surprising amount of space in the front and rear hatches. Overall, its a beautiful performance car. The best Ive owned and Ive owned many hot cars. The quality is superb as youd expect in a Porsche. The body lines are flowing, especially when you glance at your side mirror and see the curved hip. While this may be one of the least expensive Porsches on the market, I think it handles better than my previous 911, 928 and several Mercedes SLs. Those cars may have a higher top speed but this car just feels better. I think the mid-engine balance makes all the difference. Not sure if Ill ever sell this one. The new 718s have a 4-cyl. turbo which doesnt excite me. I still like 911s but I love mid-engine. My 981 Cayman S model was only made for ~3 years before Porsche switched to 4-cyl turbos in the 718. I think a 981 with the right options is gonna be a future legend. I cant say enough. I LOVE my Cayman S.

I love my 2014 Porsche Cayman base model with PDK transmission. It is beautifully styled, handles like a true sports car should and is a tremendous value for a lightly used car.
  • Great Sports Car

I've had the base Cayman with PDK for 26 months as my daily driver. Great car, lots of fun, especially on twisty roads where this mid-engine car really shines. Drive comfort is good for a sports car. Acceleration is good in sports mode, and handling is outstanding. Interior is comfortable and very functional. Controls are laid out well and NAV system is good and worth having since you have limited space for dash mounted device. Gas milage is great, I average about 25 MPG on mostly back road driving. Downside I'll note include; 1- no spare tire, get a flat and your day is over. 2- On really cold days (-5 to 5 f) the washer fluid (even winter fluid) has a tendency to freeze in the line as the resevoir is in the unheated front trunk. 3- As with all Porsches, the options run the price up very quickly, so choose wisely.
